Agreement to boost wheat, barley harvest

Ministry of Agriculture signs three-year cooperation agreement with ACSAD

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Arab Center for the Study of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) signed a cooperation agreement for boosting the domestic production of wheat and barley.

The agreement aims at implementing a three-year project to improve the cultivation of wheat and barley in the country through the assistance of ACSAD. The plan aims at reducing the quantity of imports of wheat and barley, as well as upgrading the national expertise in the production and inspection of the crops.

According to the agreement, ACSAD pledges to offer consultancy and oversee the implementation of the project, as well as assist in building a competent local cadre. It will also offer the seeds required for the growing wheat and barley.
