The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML) announced the establishment of the Lebanese Mediation Center (LMC) for promoting business mediation.
The center was established through a cooperation agreement signed between CCIA-BML and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The CCIA-BML said that it would cooperate with IFC to train mediators in order to help the business community settle commercial disputes without resorting to long and costly judicial procedures.
According to the CCIA-BML, the center’s mission covers the training and accreditation of mediators. Candidates will be trained as mediators by British training and consultancy firm CEDR. Trainees will then be eligible for an LMC/CEDR accreditation and will be offered a contract to work as accredited mediators for the LMC.
