“EDL is in need of 5,000 employees to implement its mission and it currently employs only 1500 workers,” Bassil said.

Bassil said that current contracts with franchise companies should be adjusted especially that those companies owe EDL over $27 million.

The minister said that the Ministry will start next week implementing a plan that guarantees equal distribution of electrical power among all regions.

EDL is responsible for 90 percent of total electricity production.
