Prepaid cards offer discounts on voice calls, SMSs, and special weekend rates

Alfa Telecom has launched ‘U-Chat’, an exclusive prepaid plan for younger customers.

Customers aged between 14 and 24 can choose between two ‘U-Chat’ mobile lines, each with a validity period of one month at $9 and $17.5 respectively.

The U-Chat cards offer discounts up to 72 percent compared to current prepaid rates. The new lines will also entitle users to discounts on phone calls and special rates for weekends.

The $9 plan offers users up to 30 minutes worth of local calls, 200 SMSs, and a 50MB data plan per month. The $17.5 plan offers 60 minutes worth of local calls, 200 SMSs, and a 250MB data plan per month. Both plans allow users to make free unlimited calls to one Alfa number during weekends.

Marwan Hayek, Alfa's chairman and CEO, said that the company conducted studies analyzing the usage trends of mobile technology among the young and found that around 77 percent of those between 14 and 18 years old do not use a mobile phone.
