The Lebanese Customs Administration and the University of Genoa signed a partnership agreement for the Custom MED project.

The project is part of the European neighborhood partnership instrument: Cross Border Cooperation for Mediterranean Countries.

The project aims to improve the circulation of goods between the Middle East and the EU by networking and adopting shared procedures and technologies among selected Mediterranean ports, including the customs office at the Port of Beirut.

The project officially started in April and will extend over 30 months.

The project’s budget is around $1.5 million, of which $150,000 is allocated for Lebanon.
