Private sector sounds alarm over desperate economic conditions, plummeting sales

Lebanon’s Economic Association said Tuesday sales had plummeted across the country over the past two months and warned that the Lebanese economy could collapse if the government failed to shore up security.The number of tourists visiting Lebanon in the first seven months of 2012 decreased by over 12 percent compared to the same period in 2011. The numbers are even more worrying compared to 2010, when Lebanon received 34 percent more tourists.
