AUB to raise its financial aid

The American University of Beirut is planning to raise the ceiling of its financial aid program. The AUB will increase the discounts granted by the program up to 50 percent of tuition fees for the academic year 2013-2014. Salim Kanaan, director of the admission and financial aids department said the financial aid budget will reach $20 million. “We are receiving more requests on financial aid each year, so we will be raising the assistance budget in order to further help our students,” Kanaan said. Over 40 percent of AUB students apply for the financial aid program. Around 86 percent of those get assistance. Reduction goes from 20 percent up to 70 percent.
