Kassar says salary scale would cut GDP to one percent

President of the economic associations, former minister Adnan Kassar called on the government to reconsider its approval of the new salary scale for public sector employees. He said the Cabinet must not adopt more taxes to fund the salary raise.

“If the salary scale draft law was adopted, GDP growth would plunge to less than one percent,” Kassar said citing reports by the International Monetary Fund.
