‘Les Caves de Taillevent’, a France-based wine cellar and boutique concept, has recently opened in Les Jardins de Tabaris, Ashrafieh. The French franchise was introduced by local distributor Khalil Fattal & Sons (KFF).

The outlet has an area of 470 square meters parted into three floors. Two underground floors constitute the cellar and wine bar, while the ground floor is dedicated to wine sales.

Paul Choueiry, general manager of the boutique, said the design of the shop and the winery was carefully chosen to include state-of-the-art wine storage techniques. The winery and wine bar will open by end-February.

The project’s cost, upon completion, will be around $1.5 million. According to Choueiry, wine is an international trend, and has recently become more in demand locally. “A feasibility study we led about the consumption of spirits found that over the past five years spending on wine has been rising, even during the summer.”

‘Les Caves de Taillevent’ will provide leasable storage spaces for wine collectors and host wine-tasting courses for amateurs and professionals. It will also offer export services for high-end local wines. “We will be cooperating with hospitality faculties and academic institutions to host classes at our premises in order to further promote the wine culture,” Choueiry said.

The cellar will also provide consultancy services to wine-lovers, through its new concept of ‘private wine banking’. “This is a concept we created to offer advice about the best wines to our customers and help them when it comes to storage techniques,” said Choueiry.
