Cabinet approves EIB highway loan

The Council of Ministers approved a loan from the European Investment Bank for €75 million (around $100 million) for the expansion and rehabilitation of Nahr el-Kalb-Tabarja highway. The loan requires Parliament approval. Works on the project would therefore take a year to kick off. The highway rehabilitation is part of a larger project, Lebanese Highways II. The project’s total cost is $200 million.
