Public workers to protest on Thursday

The Syndical Coordination Committee said it will hold a demonstration on Thursday (May 23), protesting the delay in adopting the new salary scale for public sector workers and public and private school teachers. The committee will stage a protest in front of the Grand Serail and the Ministry of Finance in Riad El Solh.

The committee said it would continue its movements in response to the Cabinet’s decision to split the imbursement of the salary scale difference over four years, and cut the wage raise by some ten percent.

The committee threatened to boycott the correction of official exams if the scale was not forwarded to Parliament as presented to the Cabinet initially.
