Lebanese nuts manufacturer Al Rifai plans to open a factory in Halat. The facility will cover a built-up area of 25,000 square meters, and will have the capacity to produce a minimum of 16,000 tons of nuts and kernels per year. The factory will start operating in December 2013.

Investment in the Halat facility reached around $25 million, according to Jean Nader, Commercial Director at Al Rifai. The factory will be fully automated and equipped with high-tech machines. It will also include a warehouse and a Research and Development department that will welcome graduates, experts, and engineers.

The Halat factory will be a green building. “We will apply green production methods using green energy,” said Nader. “The factory will apply ISO 22000 standards, in addition to new international standards that are still not applied locally, such as BRC certificate and International Food Safety - the fourth version (IFS4),” he said.

Al Rifai owns a 10,000 square meter factory in Sweden, since 2008. The factory covers all the demand from Europe. Al Rifai exports to 48 countries worldwide.
