Daze, a local importer of concept furniture, will open its first branch in Corniche Al Mazraa next month. The store specializes in affordable furniture from different countries, targeting middle and lower-income classes.
The company is a new affiliate of BD Holding, the company that owns the Batal Design furniture store. Hussein Batal, CEO of BD Holding, said: “After studying the market we recognized that the local economic crisis had a big impact on clients’ purchasing power.” Daze will propose full house furniture including carpets and lightings with prices ranging between $10,000 and $25,000.
The Corniche Al Mazraa outlet stretches over 2,800 square meters. A second branch will open on the Jounieh highway within two months and three additional branches in Saudi Arabia are planned later. Investment in both branches will reach $3 million. Daze will be selling franchisees for all the Gulf countries.
Batal Design already has three showrooms in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, and is planning a fourth showroom in Riyadh this year. To fulfill demand in Gulf countries, Batal Design recently finalized a new factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The facility has a built-up area of 40,000 square meters. Batal said that total investment in the new factory reached $40 million.
The company is also preparing to reopen Intercasa, its 20,000 square meter factory in Jadra. The total investment cost in Jadra factory reached $8 million and will create 150 jobs. “Our local factory and the KSA one will not take market shares from each other, because each will specialize in particular items.”
