Production resumed on August 22 at the Gemayel Frères cardboard and corrugated cardboard factory in Bickfaya. A fire had broken out three days earlier, burning four warehouses and damaging industrial machines, according to Fady Gemayel, Chairman and General Manager of Gemayel Frères.

The facility will be renovated as soon as possible. “Most customer orders will be delivered on time,” said Gemayel.

Financial losses have not yet been calculated. “The damage would have been far worse if not for the efforts to salvage the factory.”

No employees were harmed in the fire. Gemayel Frères employs 300 people, and the factory’s production value reaches $30 million per year.

Established in 1929, Gemayel Frères founded the cardboard industry in the local market. In 1957, the company introduced corrugated cardboard boxes for customers in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
