The online shopping platform ‘Namshi’ will become operational in the local market as of the coming week.

The Dubai-based Namshi is one of the leading online shops for shoes and fashion in the Middle East. Its aim is to offer a broad selection of international and local brands at competitive prices.

“We know that Lebanese shoppers are very fashion-conscious and are increasingly savvy about online-shopping, so it’s definitely an important market for us,” said Sonja Neuber, Vice President, Digital Marketing at Namshi.

She said that launching the website locally will enable shoppers from Lebanon to buy from Namshi by creating a free ‘Shop and Ship’ account and using their credit card.

The account is mandatory for countries outside the GCC. “The account allows the users to create a postal address here in UAE, and from there it can be shipped globally.” Namshi ships for free in the GCC, but shoppers outside the GCC have to pay delivery charges.

In the UAE, Namshi has its own delivery fleet. In Lebanon purchases will be delivered via Aramex.

A few months ago, the fashion retail company launched by Germany’s Rocket Internet, had announced a $13 million investment from the US private equity firm Summit Partners to develop its presence in the Middle East’s emerging e-commerce market.
