The Beirut Traders Association (BTA) has launched the Beirut Traders Shopping MasterCard credit card in collaboration with BLOM Bank. The card allows participating small-scale retailers to bring their customers benefits similar to those offered by large retailers.
The new card offers customers exclusive discounts and instant gifts, as well as a rewards program. Discounts are instant upon purchasing, and could reach up to 50 percent. The card’s function resembles that of co-branded cards like the ABC or Aïshti loyalty card by Bank Audi, for example.
More than 400 small retailers have joined the program so far. Participating traders are not necessarily members of the BTA. Some traders outside Beirut have also shown high interest in the card.
According to Jihad Tannir, Vice President of the BTA, feedback about the card is positive, and they are expecting encouraging results. He said that all the shopping destinations in Beirut will benefit from this card. “Traders will also be rewarded with percentages of the bank’s commission.”
“This is a one-of-a-kind card in the region, and our aim is to revive the commercial centers of Beirut,” he said.
The card comes with a booklet listing the participating stores and their offers. A new mobile application also allows shoppers to browse through available offers from different stores.
Clients willing to have the card can either consult BLOM Bank, or the BTA. Distribution will start soon.
