Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is considering opening new hotels under one of the group’s brands, Indigo. “We are actively looking for an appropriate location to establish Hotel Indigo in the local market,” said Simon Stamper, Regional General of IHG in Egypt and Lebanon.

He said that the local market has a great potential to host the Indigo brand, renowned for its boutique-style venues.

IHG has been active in the local market for more than 50 years. Four of its major brands operate properties locally: Three Intercontinental hotels: Phoenicia, Le Vendôme, and Mzaar, one Holiday Inn in Dunes, one Crowne Plaza in Hamra, and the recent entry is Staybridge Suites in Verdun. “Beirut is a very important market to us, with a lot of potential. It is a further developing market, where our brands cover all sectors.”

The Indigo brand is known as the neighborhood hotel, where each room has its own design.

Thirty one properties have opened since Hotel Indigo's launch, and several others are currently under construction. The first Indigo Hotel opened in Atlanta, USA, in 2004.
