USAID supports beekeepers

New machines to reduce production costs

The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) will sign an ‘investment agreement’ with Apiculture for Protection and Improvement of Society NGO, headed by Saab Wehbeh, on March 5, to support it with new machines for mixing honey.

The agreement aims to reduce the production costs of honey, and enhancing the quality of honey in the local market.

The machines will be distributed to more than 100 beekeepers in the Metn, Hasbaya, Keserwan, and Jbeil regions. The program will provide training sessions to increase awareness among beekeepers, enhance the quality of honey and increase production. It will also help beekeepers develop their projects and increase their revenues.

LIVCD is a five year $41.7 million project initiated and funded by USAID to improve the economic stability and generate income for small businesses. It also aims at creating jobs for the rural population, as well as building connections between farmers, producers, traders, and retailers.
