The Union Coordination Committee protested the Parliament’s failure to approve the salary scale, on June 2.
Nehmeh Mahfouz, Chairman of Private Schools’ Teachers Syndicate, said: “We will boycott the official exams unless the salary scale is enacted.” He said that the exams will be held the day after enacting the salary scale.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced delaying the official exams for five days, as a first measure, starting with the Brevet which was delayed from 7 till 12 June. He said that other measures could be taken if the issue was not resolved.
The Ministry threatened to cancel the Brevet official exam. Mahfouz said that the authorities cannot cancel the Brevet certificate: “Terminating this certificate means canceling the role of the State and national sovereignty.”
