Zoomaal, a local crowdfunding platform with regional activity, has signed an agreement with Zain Jordan, subsidiary of Kuwaiti-based Zain Telecoms company. This step aims at providing support for startups and entrepreneurial projects in Jordan.

Last year, Zoomaal raised last year $67,000 for Mashru3 Leila, a local Arabic rock band, to fund their new album ‘Raasuk’ (You’ve Been Choreographed.)

Under the terms of the partnership, Zain will support a selection of Jordanian startups with crowdfunding campaigns on Zoomaal by matching their funds raised on the platform, with an agreed upon cap.

Zoomaal will be announcing several other strategic partnerships, to support projects through matched funding in several Arab countries.  Dib Semaan, Operations Manager at Zoomaal said that they are also looking for different partnerships in the local market, with banks and institutions.

Another Zoomaal partnership announced last week is with international development organization Hivos, setting up the 'Must See Film Challenge'. Hivos will also match funds raised with an agreed upon cap.
