Deir al Oumara is open for business in the Chouf.
It is a 19th century mansion, built by the Emir Beshir. By 1908, it was transformed into a school. Currently the building and property belongs to the Greek-Catholic church.
Local investor Mounzer Boustany, and two other partners applied for a Kafalat loan to renovate the property in 2012. Investment is about $1.5 million. The hotel had a ‘soft’ opening phase in 2013 to shakeout any problems, and became fully operational this summer. According to Elie Hani, sales & events manager, the hotel is a three star property which has kept its authentic and original theme. “This fact makes the hotel unique and attractive to locals and to tourists, beside the attractiveness of Deir Al Qamar itself (the area).”
The hotel hosts 16 suites, a 300-person wedding and event venue, another 80-person pine garden setting, a Lebanese restaurant, and a cave that can host private celebrations. Prices range for a standard suite between $70 and $140, depending on the day and season. Currently, it is classified as ‘Historic Hotel’.
