Racing Park Mtein (RPM), a $5 million racing park, is slated to open officially next year. It is located in Mtein. The track has already soft opened a few weeks ago.
Raffi Etyemezian, major shareholder and Chairman of RPM the company that owns and runs the project, said that their circuit has the same length as the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), but RPM has additional activities center, which makes it overall the largest racing park in the region.
RPM occupies 80,000 square meters of land. It was leased from the Maronite Waqf. The main circuit is 1,280 m long, with nine to 12 meters of width. The project also encompasses a racing park which brings driving school for young drivers, a baby track with electronic cars, and a junior, multiple level track, that has safety barriers. RPM also has a mini football court, and a 5,000 square meters of kids’ playground.
The second phase of the project will add a three-floor building totaling 2,200 square meters of built-up area. It will offer two indoor and outdoor restaurants. It will also have a terrace, a space for corporate events, arcade zone, and Kart shop, among others.
Etyemezian said that the specifications of the racing park respect the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) norms, which qualify it to host regional and international tournaments and competitions.
“We have chosen Mtein because we were looking for a large space of land that we could not find anywhere else,” he said. He also said that Metn region is an attractive destination.
