Middle East Airlines (MEA) will complete works on its new cargo center, in January. The center will be operated by the MEA Ground Handling (MEAG) company, a fully owned subsidiary of the airline, which provides cargo services at the Rafic Hariri International Airport.
The hub was supposed to be delivered by mid 2013, at a cost of $11 million. Hadi Soubra, Chairman of Soubra Metal Group, the project’s contractor, said: “Construction was delayed due to changes in blueprints and plans.”
The developed underground parking space fits 200 vehicles. A refrigerated space for storing meats and medicine was expanded to exceed 2,000 square meters.
The new storage facility has a storage capacity of up to 180,000 tons of merchandise, over an area of 20,000 square meters (m2). It will include export and import warehouses of 5,000 and 10,000 (m2) respectively.
