The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has enacted a decision to reduce subscribers’ contribution share from 20 to five percent, for specific medicines related to multiple sclerosis, pulmonary pressure, and pulmonary fibrosis.

Rafik Salameh, board member, said: “This decision would contribute to reducing the medical bill for those suffering from chronic diseases, especially that the prices of some medicines exceed $5,000 sometimes.”

Salameh said that a previous decree was issued to reduce subscriber fees for cancer medicines. NSSF found that the same rule should also apply for these medicines.

This decision requires a decree from the Council of Minister to be implemented.
