Construction works will start on Al Najda Al Chaabieh hospital in Halba, Akkar in early 2015. It will provide general medical services including surgeries.

The hospital is owned by a nonprofit organization, by the same name, based in Akkar. George El Dahr, Chairman of the Association, said: “There is a large need for quality low-cost medical services in this region; the hospital will target mainly needy patients.”

The cost of construction is expected to reach $10 million, to be funded by international donations.

The hospital’s total built-up area is 8,500 square meters, comprising seven floors and 100 beds.

The hospital will complement the association, which is a center for primary medical services.

Al Najda Al Chaabieh has already obtained license by the Ministry of Public Health.
