Inkript, a local manufacturer of high security printing, will expand its factory in Bchamoun, next fall.

The expansion will be dedicated to the printing of electronic and biometric identification documents, such as electronic resident cards, visas, passports, drivers’ licenses and vehicle registration cards. The factory will be the only one of its kind in security printing in the Middle East.

Production could reach more than 120 million smartcards and one billion scratch cards. Most of these cards will be exported to Africa, Central Asia, Latin America, and Gulf countries. The minimum production capacity of passports and visas is five million.

The $20 million factory will total 15,000 square meters. It will create 500-600 jobs, eventually increasing the number of employees working at the factory to 1,200.

The factory will be GSMA SAS certified and will apply all security measures in the production and handling of secure data. The factory will also be ISO 9001 certified for quality management, ISO 14001 certified for eco-friendly procedures and ISO 27001 certified for information security. The machines will be imported from Germany and France.
