The construction of the Manzoul Dam, located in Majdel Tarshish-Mtein, will begin this spring, according to Associated Consulting Engineers (ACE), the engineering firm that designed the project.
The dam’s contractor is Nassim Abou Habib Pour l’Industrie et l’Entreprise. The construction is funded by a $13 million loan from the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
It will store 420,000 cubic meters of water and will measure 40 meters in height and 170 meters in length.
“The dam will be made of rock sediments and will take three years to complete,” said Samer Baaklini, Project Engineer at Nassim Abou Habib.
“We are waiting to receive the order of execution from the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), which is in charge of supervision,” he said.
Around ten kilometers of pipelines will connect the dam to neighboring villages.
