Silk Road TV, a channel dedicated to trade and cultural relations between the Arab world and China has begun airing a month long pilot phase.
The Lebanese Chinese Business Council (LCBC) is the exclusive partner of the station locally and in the Arab world.
“Lebanon is at the heart of the trade activities with China; this is why we decided that it will host this station,” said Ali El Masri, Chairman of the board of LCBC.
Station programs include topics on trade activities, mutual business and investment opportunities, as well as other related information.
El Masri said that the launch comes in line with several activities led by LCBC to accentuate partnership and collaboration with China. “In 2011, the volume of trade activity between Lebanon and China was around $800 million. It grew to over $1.5 billion today,” he said.
The station is based in Guangzhou, China and broadcasts internationally over Nilesat 11680H. Locally, the station employs 250 Lebanese and Chinese staff members.
