The installation of wastewater networks in the Jbeil caza resumed after a one-year halt.

Zaher Abi Ghosn, project manager at the municipality, said: “The works were stopped because the Directorate of Antiquities needed to make sure that no artifacts will be damaged during the process.”

Funded by the Italian Protocol, the $38 million project will benefit more than 50,000 people and take two and a half years to complete. The Italian firm, Cooperativa Edile Appennino, was awarded in February 2014 the contract under the supervision of the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR).

Installations will be made in Jbeil, Hboub, Amchit, and Blat. Main connections will also be linked to Jadayel and Hasrayel. A treatment plant in the vicinity of Amchit has already been completed.
