The Keserwan-Ftouh Municipalities Union opened a touristic-environmental project for the public in Wadi El Salib, yesterday. The land is shared between the municipalities of Klayaat, Feytroun, and Kfardebian.

The project is a three-kilometer long touristic village. It includes traditional Lebanese homes that were built more than 200 years ago, as well as a river, and natural landscapes.

Nouhad Nawfal, Head of the Union of Municipalities, said: “Three old homes were renovated, which will be dedicated for the accommodation of guests.”The houses are now opened to the public for rent, each hosting up to 20 guests, according to Nawfal.

The European Union, in collaboration with the Evelyn district in France, and the Union of Keserwan and Ftouh municipalities financed $1 million to finalize the road restoration and renovation of the three houses.

“The project aims to revive traditional rural tourism in this region,” said Nawfal. “We came up with this project in an effort to preserve the traditional fabric of villages,” he said.

The Culture, Heritage and Growth Association will manage the village and train tour guides.
