3M Plast expands factory in Ghazieh

3M Plast, a manufacturer of plastic products including food serving utensils, will expand its factory in Ghazieh, in early 2016.

Marco Kabalan, General Manager, said: “We will expand to produce new plastic items for the market.” 3M Plast will be the first local producer of resin plastic products, which used to be imported.

The $3 million expansion will increase the built-up area of the factory from 8,000 to 12,000 square meters. Machines required for the facility will be imported from China. The extension will create 20 full time jobs. Kabalan said the company has earned a subsidized loan through Kafalat to fund part of the project.

The production capacity of the factory will increase by 30 percent to 150 tons of plastic per month. 3M Plast produces a wide range of plastic products including tables, chairs, trash containers, agricultural boxes, and kitchen equipment.

The company exports 25 percent of its production to Arab and African countries.

3M Plast spilt from Kamaplast, which is owned by Kamel Kabalan.
