Power and Industrial Machinery Company (PIMCO), a manufacturer of sound proof generators, opened a factory in Ghazieh, Saida in the early summer.
The factory will increase its production capacity from 1,500 sound proof generators to 3,000 per year. PIMCO assembles generators and produces a wide range of products including transformers and distribution boards. PIMCO is an agent of Perkins, Ward Leonard, and Cummins generators.
Investment in the project is around $5 million, including the cost of the land. The factory has a built-up area of 10,000 square meters. It created around 20 full time jobs.
The factory is equipped with fully automated machines for painting, cutting, and assembling the products. Bilal Rouzieh, Project Manager, said that the cost of machines that are imported from Germany and Switzerland reached $3 million. A specific staff came from Switzerland to install the machines and train the employees to use them.
PIMCO exports around 65 percent of its production to African and Gulf countries. Prices of the generators start from $5,000 and could exceed $400,000, prices of the sound proof equipment for generators start from $1,500 and could reach $15,000.
PIMCO was established in 2001 by Hasan Ghaddar. The company has its own showroom beside the factory in Ghazieh, as well as another one in Beirut.
