Bekaa landfill to be moved to Choueifat

The long-awaited garbage plan will be implemented in the next two days, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, which is heading a ministerial committee to follow up on the plan’s implementation.

The landfill, which was slated for the Bekaa region, is expected to be moved to the southern suburb of Choueifat, sources close to the ministry said.

The committee presented Prime Minister Tamam Salam a full report about the changes to the plan and efforts made with members of the civil society since August.

Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb said: “We managed to overcome a large part of the problems but we are still working on resolving some obstacles.”
