The Lebanese Beirut Airport Catering Company (LBACC), a company owned mostly by Middle East Airlines (MEA), has won a tender for the management of restaurants and cafeterias at the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport.

LBACC was the company that ran these facilities for the past 15 years. The previous contract began in 1996 and was automatically renewed every year since 2011. The company is chaired by Mohamad El-Hout.

The value of the contract is $2.25 million yearly with a duration of 15 years. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport said: “The income to the Treasury from this facility was raised by more than eight times because of the bidding.”

Mohammad Chehabeddine, Airport General Director, said: “Several international companies have participated in the tender.” They included French and Qatari companies. “The French company that participated is considered to be the second largest in these services, in the world,” he said.
