To open showroom in December

Newly-established car distributor Mecanica Group has become the local agent for Humvee, PGO, and SAIPA vehicles.

Mecanica Group, founded by Boutros Frem five months ago, plans to open its showroom on Jbeil highway in December.

“The nine-floor showroom will have a total area of 9,000 square meters (m2),” said Majed Khoury, the company’s General Manager.

Mecanica’s focus will be on SAIPA, due to its low purchase price in comparison to the two other brands. The price range for the SAIPA is between $8,000 and $19,900 and targets the lower-to-middle income market.It is therefore expected to have a larger volume of sales. The company’s targeted annual sales are almost 1,800 cars.

Mecanica has already received the first shipment of SAIPA, which is manufactured in Iran. The shipment consists of 152 cars. A subsequent shipment at the same numbers is expected in the next two weeks.

Humvee jeeps, which are manufactured by US-based AM General, the maker of Hummer, will be sold at lower volumes. The price of a Humvee is around $350,000, according to Khoury.

The same goes for PGO vehicles, produced by French car manufacturer PGO Automobiles. The prices of PGO cars range between $58,000 and $78,000.
