Japan supports SMEs in Bekaa

The Ministry of Industry signed a cooperative agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bekaa.

Dany Jedaoun, Director General at the Ministry, said that after studying the needs of the factories in Bekaa we chose to support mostly the bakery and pastry segement.

JICA will finance $100,000 for the project, which will provide training for more than one hundred people working in this subsector. Four bakeries will also benefit from financial aid to enhance the machines, equipment, and premises.

The Ministry is also working with JICA on two other projects totaling $1 million for conducting industrial statistics, and energy saving in factories.
