Fine Food, a food and chocolate retailer, opened yesterday a chocolate factory in Rasmaska, Koura. Investment exceeded $5 million.

Equally owned by Fine Food and Turkish investors, the factory’s built up area is 2,500 square meters (m2).

Haissam Kasha, General of Fine Food, said: “Our Turkish partners provided us with the technical knowhow, in addition to the investments.”

The installed equipment was imported from Turkey.

In the first stage, chocolate bars under the brand name ‘Rococo’ will be manufactured at the plant. Production output will be 60 boxes (each containing 144 bars) per hour.

Kasha said that they will be working to a quarter of capacity in the first stage.

The company’s target is to export to Arab countries.

Kasha said: “Once works go well, we will launch new kinds of chocolate under different brand names.”

The factory is expected to create around 50 full time jobs.
