The Cabinet recently approved an amendment to the working hours of public sector employees. The new working hours will be from 7:30 AM to 3:15 PM from Monday to Thursday, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday.
The decision has a limited effect on total working hours, which decreased by only one hour to 34, from the 35 hours previously approved in 2017.
The decision will be effective once released as a decree in the Official Gazette.
A source at the Ministry of Labor said that there is no need for parliamentary approval as the matter was agreed upon during the recent budget discussions. The amendment also has a limited effect on Article 38 of the Salary Scale, which is related to working hours, that was published in the Official Gazette in August 2017.
The Ministry of Labor is expected to apply the decision in the coming week, and other administrations will follow later.
