Régie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (Régie) has signed an agreement with Japan Tobacco International (JTI) to manufacture Winchester cigarettes in its plants.
“This agreement will boost the number of cigarettes produced by Régie to one million containers per year, each of which contains 10,000 cigarettes,” said Nassif Seklaoui, Director General of Regie.
The monthly production of Winchester cigarettes will reach 5,500 containers per month. Manufacturing will start this week, and is expected to fill 2,200 crates by next week.
The tobacco and materials will be supplied by JTI and under its technical supervision. A pack of locally produced Winchester will be sold at LL 1,250.
Régie last year signed an agreement with Imperial Tobacco to manufacture Gitanes Blonde, Gauloises and West cigarette brands. It also signed an agreement with Philip Morris International (PMI) to manufacture Marlboro cigarettes.
