$40 million invested in 50,000 m2 project

Bodon Group, a major developer in the North, has re-launched construction into North Gate Akkar, a commercial project that targets companies interested in the reconstruction of Syria.

The group is owned and chaired by Abdul Rahim el Bodon, the developer of Lebanon Medical City in Akkar and several residential projects in Tripoli.

North Gate Akkar is composed of 13 buildings, consisting of 80 offices, 100 retail shops and showrooms, and a 3,200 square meter (m2) hypermarket. The project will also have an open area for outdoor activities and an apart-hotel. Delivery will begin in 2021.

The project, valued at $40 million, has a land area of 74,000 m2, and a built up area of 50,000 m2.

“We were visited by China Civil Engineering Construction (CCEC), a State-owned contracting company, and they were interested in leasing spaces, because they want accommodation and offices when they start participating in the reconstruction of Syria, particularly Homs,” said Hilal Bodon, Project Manager.

Akkar is only 80 kilometers away from Homs. CCEC is one of the Chinese companies that visited Lebanon last week to participate in the Lebanon-China Investment Forum.

The project is expected to generate 800 jobs, according to Bodon.

“North Gate Akkar is a stones-throw from the Qlayaat Airport and Port of Tripoli, making it highly in demand,” he said. Bodon Group has started leasing spaces and is in negotiations with Fahed Supermarket to lease the hypermarket space, and Fransabank to open a branch.
