The ESA Business School has announced the demise of its General Director Stéphane Attali who was in charge of his post since 2009. ESA was launched in 1996 by then French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.

Attali was also the President of MEREF, the French chamber of commerce in Lebanon.

Under his tenure, ESA has made a large number of achievements. It obtained a number of international accreditations, started new programs such as an entrepreneurship pole, Islamic finance studies, art, management and others. The campus also expanded into several new facilities.

Attali started his career in a consultancy firm in Paris. He joined the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris in 1999. He was appointed at ESA Business School where he was in charge of educational development. He also created an entrepreneurship pole at ESA.

Attali holds a diploma from Université Paris-Dauphine and another degree in Economics and Finance from Institut d'études politiques de Paris (SciencesPo).

He was honored by official decorations from the French and Lebanese governments.

Condolences will be received at ESA on Wednesday, July 3rd from 2 to 6 pm and Thursday, July 4th from 9 am to 1 pm.

A requiem mass in his memory will be celebrated on Thursday, July 4th at 3 pm in the Saint Joseph Church of the Jesuit Fathers, Achrafieh - Monot Street.

The funeral mass will be later held in Paris.
