The three companies are, TRISAT SARL, LCNC SAL, and Waves SAL. The three firms obtained similar licenses in 2001that were terminated.However, the Council of State (Shura Council) reinstated the licenses in 2003.
“The issuance contributes to the enhancement of competition in the telecom market and is a step towards market liberalization,” said TRA.
The three new licenses raise the number of private licensed service providers with their own networks to 24.
The companies will establish their networks in the Beirut area initially but plan to expand later to other regions.
