Ericsson has won the bid to install Optical Transport Network, which is the second part of the first phase in the plan to install a fiber optics network nationwide.Ericsson competed against six international telecommunication companies. “It won because it gave the lowest bid of $6.3 million. The highest bid was $14.2 million and it was offered by the Chinese company Huawei,” a statement by the Ministry of Telecommunication said today.The project will upgrade the landline telephone and internet network. No one from Ericsson or the Ministry of Telecommunication was available for comment.
