The Telecommunication Regulatory Agency, (TRA), announced that its board of directors has approved the use of public property by the providers of telecom services. In a statement issued today, TRA said that the approval was granted in line with article 35 of the telecom law number 2002/431, which allows the providers to use public property subject to certain conditions. “Such use is vital to modernizing the telecom service in the country,” the statement said. It will considerably reduce the costs and time involved. It said that TRA has prepared a schedule for the fees that the service providers will have to pay for their use of the public property. The decision of TRA is subject to the approval of the Minister of Telecom and to the Council of Ministers, it said.
