UNIPAK receives Cleaner Production certificate

Austria pledges €100,000 to local institutions involved in clean industry

June 29, 2011- UNIPAK Corporation, for manufacturing corrugated containers and packaging, was awarded the Cleaner Production certificate by the Industrial Research Institute and the Lebanese Cleaner Production Centre (LCPC) in a ceremony held on Tuesday (June 28).

Austria’s Ambassador Eva Maria Ziegler attended the event and announced that her country plans to offer €100,000 in donation to local institutions involved in hygiene issues. She said Austria had offered €280,000, during the past five years, for such local institutions.

During the ceremony certificates were delivered to the cleaner industrial corporations in the sector of olive oil and other productions. Certificates were delivered to six industrial companies operating in this sector: Sheikh Salman Daher refinery, Boulos for Industry and Trade, Saeid Seifan, the Agricultural Cooperative in Rachayya el-Fukhar, Badawi Olive Oil and the Rachid Modern refinery.

During the ceremony, manuals for cleaner production in olive oil business were handed out to the participating companies, and seven people were certified as experts in cleaner production.
