July 7, 2011- The first issue of ‘Lebanon Traveler’ magazine was launched on June 29 in a joint endeavor between the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Hospitality Services and the Beyond Beirut Association.

The magazine highlights tourism development in rural areas by informing tourists of hidden attractions, promoting responsible tourism, and supporting local communities by developing tourism beyond the Beirut area, according to a US embassy statement.

Beyond Beirut Association is a local NGO that deals with sustainable economic development in rural areas. Hospitality Services is the publisher of Hospitality News magazine and organizer of the Horeca exhibition.

Beyond Beirut and Hospitality Services worked together to produce the first issue of the magazine through a USAID grant to Beyond Beirut as a part of its ‘Lebanon Business Linkages Initiative’ (LBLI).

USAID’s LBLI aims to reduce poverty and unemployment in the tourism, Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and agricultural sectors by expanding market access through business linkages, improving access to finance and other supporting measures, and addressing systemic constraints to industry and small and medium enterprise (SMEs) growth.
