Lebanon is the 20th developing country to endorse International Aid Transparency Initiative
Share
July 11, 2011- The Ministry of Finance endorsed the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) on May 31, 2011, according to the Aid Coordination Newsletter published by the MoF.
Lebanon became the 20th developing country to endorse the initiative.
The IATI is a voluntary, multi-stakeholder initiative that includes donors, partner countries, and civil society organizations which support the IATI Accra Statement. The initiative aims at making information about aid spending easier to access, use, and understand. Its purpose is to help implement the transparency commitments made at the Accra Agenda for Action.
The Accra Agenda for Action arose from the March 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The agenda states that all donors should publicly disclose regular information on the volume, allocation, and, when available, results of development expenditure.
