GlobeMed, a Lebanese-owned service provider and healthcare management company, has won a deal to serve the National Health Insurance Company (NHIC) of Qatar.

Tamim Daccac, Business Development Manager at GlobeMed Lebanon, said: “This partnership is very essential because it is backed by the Qatari government. We were one of many highly ranking companies that participated in the tender”.

The NHIC, which is fully owned by the Qatari government, is in charge of managing the National Health Insurance scheme. A tender held by the Qatari AlKhaleej Takaful Group resulted in the nomination of global insurance organization Aetna International and GlobeMed as joint exclusive subcontractors. GlobeMed will provide enrollment, claims administration, and call center services on behalf of NHIC.

Daccac said: “GlobeMed will serve the universal health program that will be gradually introduced to all nationals, residents, and visitors of Qatar. We will use our experience and knowhow in providing solutions in the management of healthcare benefits,” he said.

GlobeMed, formerly known as MedNet, has 11 franchisees in the Arab region and Africa that act as third-party administrators for medical services. They mediate between insurance companies and healthcare providers, including hospitals. These companies serve more than 80 insurance companies, social security funds, and other insurance schemes, and have agreements with around 500,000 healthcare providers around the globe.
