Occupancy down to 64 percent in June

Beirut RevPAR drops by 15 percent y-o-y to $136 in June 2011

August 5, 2011- Occupancy at Beirut hotels dropped to 64.5 percent during June 2011, compared to 67.6 percent during the corresponding period of 2010.

According to figures released by Deloitte & STR Global, the Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) in Beirut saw a decline of 15 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to $136 during June 2011.

The average occupancy in the Middle East stood at 59 percent during June 2011, a 4.3 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2010. The region’s RevPAR over the covered period saw an increase of 5.3 percent to $96 during June 2011.

Occupancy at Beirut hotels during the past 30 months hit its peak, in June and July 2009, as it stood at 90 percent.
The occupancy dropped to 40 percent, its lowest in 30 months, between January and February 2011.

Beirut’s RevPAR soared to $250 in summer 2009, the highest rate during the past 30 months. The city's RevPAR saw its lowest drop at $75 in January and February this year.
