opens three days after blast

Starts operations while repair work still ongoing

G. Makhlouf Cocktail, a cocktail and juice shop located in Gouraud Street in the heart of Gemmayzeh has reopened its doors, even before repairing its shattered glass facade.

“We reopened just three days after the blast at the Port of Beirut,” said Georges Makhlouf, owner of the shop.

During the first couple of days following the blast, the shop was the only one catering to rescue teams and remaining residents to provide basics such as bottled water, and various juices.

“Reparation work has not been completed yet,” Makhlouf said.

The shop, which was opened in 2003, also supplies the neighborhood pubs with fresh juice.

“We will not surrender,” Makhlouf said.
